Looking Ahead: Our 2026–2030 Strategic Plan

Updated: Jan 19

Roots & Rivers has grown in ways we couldn’t have fully predicted when we began. What started as a one-person practice has become a national team and ecosystem that has worked alongside more than 100 social purpose organizations across Canada.

As strategic planners, we spend much of our time supporting others through moments of transition. Creating our own plan meant turning that same approach inward. Our 2026–2030 Strategic Plan was shaped through grounding in our foundations, reflecting with our community, and dreaming big about what’s next.

While our vision and mission remain unchanged, this plan sets out a clear and intentional approach to how we work toward them. Equity and accessibility are central to this strategy as we recommit to ongoing reflection, learning, and accountability in how we design processes, share power, and show up in relationships.

Vision: Thriving organizations building equitable communities.

Mission: Strengthen the capacity of values-aligned organizations to serve and uplift their communities.

From now through 2030, these four strategic shifts will guide our work:

  • From excellent services to trusted partners

  • From individual talent to a collective ecosystem

  • From regional roots to national impact

  • From an emerging practice to a resilient organization

This strategic plan is a living guide for how we intend to work, learn, and adapt in the years ahead. We’re grateful to everyone who helped shape it, and we welcome continued connection and collaboration as we bring it to life.

We invite you to read the full plan and to reach out if you see opportunities to learn or work together.
